Beginning The Day

Have you ever gotten out of bed for the day, and later wondered why you didn't just take refuge under the covers. Some days seem to start out rocky, and take a nosedive from there. I find that I seem to have those kind of days when I rush into them without much reflection or thought, and without seeking a little divine assistance. Life is not always easy today, and you need all the help you can get at times, to make it through the day with a cheerful disposition at the end. So, the following saying is a reminder of how you can start your day on a positive note. I don't know who wrote it, but it is a timeless classic.

BEGINNING THE DAY

I got up early one morning and rushed right into the day,

I had so much to accomplish that I didn't have time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me, and heavier came each task.

"Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered. He answered, "You didn't ask."

I wanted to see joy and beauty, but the day toiled on, gray and bleak;

I wondered why God didn't show me. He said, "But you didn't seek."

I tried to come into God's presence; I tried all my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided, "My child, you didn't knock."

I woke up early this morning and paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish that I had to take time to pray.
